Date Night '13What Did I Do?This took place at the Baptist Resource Center in Asheville, NC. I lead the couples to their tables, served them each corse of a meal, and helped clean up afterwards!
ReflectionThis gave me a great opportunity to show my mentor I was willing to work hard and make a relationship with him that will help me in the future. I also got to serve rather than receive. I haven't worked in the food business before, but it was not as bad as I thought it would be. I also met some great people and gave them a chance to grow closer together and get that one-on-one time with their spouse that may not happen very often. Overall, it was an awesome experience!

The Lord's AcreWhat Did I Do?The first time I was at The Lord's Acre in Fairview, NC, I help clean up an area that was going to be used to grow herbs. We cleaned out poles, wires, wood, and any debris. The second time, I helped cut down weeds and created a fertilize mixture that was to be used on one of the beds. The mixture contained milled fish blood and bones.
Reflection"Hard work never hurt anyone" is a phrase I've heard growing up. I could add to this and say, "rather it helps you." At The Lord's Acre, I jumped right in to help in any way I could. I was nervous going to a new place with new people. It was nice to have my friend and peer, Tyler Demos, go with me. I met many new people and really enjoyed the company of one person in reticular i met, Charlie. He goes to Grace Community Church in Mills River, NC. We had a great time talking about deep theological subjects and our experiences in church and worship. I hope to be able to go back and help out at some point because this is a great organization!

Raise Your VoiceWhat Did I Do?My initial intention was to operate the sound in the Ferguson Auditorium at AB Tech for Kadesha's benefit concert. Upon arrival, I saw that wasn't the largest need. I focus on creating a memorabilia video of the event.
ReflectionI was very humbled at being asked by a peer to participate and help in their project. Again, through this community service opportunity, I found myself joyful at getting to serve another. Meeting people at this event opened up a door to operate sound for an event held occasionally called Synergy. Though I may have been behind the scenes, I am honored to be able to help a peer succeed!
